Jojo Smarts' Virtual Tour of Nawbucket
Hi my name is Jojo Smarts and I live in a town called Nawbucket in a state of Kentucky. I know some fine folks here aruound town and I thought it be nice to give everyone a chance to meet them they are real nice. I drawn a portarait of everyone except if they asked to do it themself. So without further to do, here is my virtual tour of Nawbucket.
Me - Jojo Smarts
This is my portait of me. I attend Nawbucket Junior High School. I like school and drawing and wrangling. I also want to say that I held the title of Nawbucket Hog Princess for 3 years running until I had to stop entering on account of my age. My pa was real proud.
Daryl Runs and his dog Stumpy
This is Daryl Runs. He done his own piture. He's a boy a go around with. We grown up together. He's not so smart, but he's got a good heart, and he's real good with the animals. He lives with his ma and an ever-changing cast of drifters that she takes in. She's good hearted too. Daryl has a 3-legged dog named Stumpy. Stumpy can run pretty fast all things considerd. And he's awful cute if you aren't scared of amputees. Daryl thinks that stumpy was born that way. The actual story would hurt him in his heart.
I won't recount it here though - it's real sad.
Dagnus Beauregard
Dagnus plays football and is genally regarded as the town hunk. He's always showwin' up in the school newsletter they call him "the sun-tanned golden boy of Nawbucket." I pass his house on my way home from school. He always has at least three of those striped muscle cars up on cement blocks in his front yard.
Nanette and Babette LaFontaine
Nanette and Babette are twins. They supposed to be identical twins - but I think they look pretty differnt. They both got a hare lip though that's for sure. But their nice and the dad is old Doc LaFontaine. He's real old and wellrespected in the town. Nanette works at the school libaray and the nurse's office. Babette is a baker at the bake shop.
Pogum Stubbs
Pogum Stubbs is real nice. He's the attendant at the Gas-and-Go. He's good friends with Daryl sometimes Daryl works there in the summer and we always fill our bike tires there. Pogum always wears a blue baseball cap.
Platypoise Jones
Platypoise Jones is an artist. He done his protrait hisself. He says he is half Renaissance man half Southern gentleman and half of Nawbucket's cultured community. He thought that was funny. He keeps strange hours and sometimes speaks with an accent. My pa says that he's just puttin' on airs and he ain't never left Nawbucket but I sorta like his accent I think it's supposed to be Franch or English or something. He was sure nice enough to give me his self-protait I think it's real nice and artistic.
Ursula Knickerbocker
Miss Ursula is one of Nawbucket's oldest residents known for her fine pies and easy manner. I tell you a funny story she was once involved in a scandal. She was suspected of consorting with the devil on account of someone heard strange voices coming from her parlor. As it turned out she was one of the first folks in town to get a television from her son who moved to the big city (Osh Kosh).
Colly Buckleshoe
My pa says Colly is "lusty and busty." I guess that's so. She also has a penchant for moonshine and wears a lot of makeup. I seen her going around with lots of different fellows but I heard she was married once. She's nice though. Daryl thinks she's pretty he won't say so but I can tell on account of he gets shy when he sees her.
Parnell Jenkins
Parnell's a hogboy even though he dropped out of Cornshucker County Animal Husbandry College he has a way with the animals. They have a rumor about Parnell that he has more than 2 nipples but he never takes his shirt off so no one knows if it's true. Parnell lets us run round with the hogs sometimes that is fun.
Yudel Goshawke
Mary Bob Goshawke
Mary Bob and Yudel pretty much keep to themselves. They got a farm. Nobody right knows whether they are husband and wife or brother and sister. But their always nice to Stumpy so I think they're okay.
Crawdaddy
Crawdaddy is the piana player at the Honkatonk. He also comes in to do music lessons at school. He sure loves playin' the piana. We all have fun whenever he comes in.
Jedediah Stumpit
Jedediah Stumpit is a farmer and he also raises prize hogs for competitions. This year he won the third prize in the Hog/potato sack race over in Passwater.
Carolle Anne Wiggles
Carolle Anne is a girl in my class. She wants to be an artist. She done this portait on her own. I think it is very experimental.
Trashcan (b. Ponzo Lachamplain)
Trashcan doesn't live no place in particular you can usually find him playing harmonica and reeking of alcohol at the Nawbucket Diner, unless a customer asks that he be removed. He slurs when he talks so you can't usually tell what he's saying when he talks at you, but I think that might be the drink. He's mostly friendly and has a smile for anyone who might show him a kindness.
